SUSTAINABILITY & PRODUCTION

HANRO products are “Made in Europe”. 90% of the fabrics are produced in our own textile production facility Arula in Vorarlberg, Austria and HANRO also sources additional materials, like lace, from local Austrian suppliers.

Arula is the leading specialist for knitted fabrics made of natural fiber and synthetic cellulosic fiber, and guarantees sustainable production in Austria. In order to maintain environmentally-friendly standards, the machinery is constantly upgraded and modernized. Since 2001, for example, water consumption in production has been reduced by more than 50% per kilo of fabric produced. Our textile production facility Arula is OEKO-TEX® STeP certified. Our production site in Vorarlberg/Austria is certified in compliance with the most recent G.O.T.S.
(Global Organic Textile Standard) sustainability standards.

CONFIDENCE IN OUR IN-HOUSE PRODUCTION

Our demands on quality and excellence extend to our production sites. No expense is spared in meeting these demands, which includes HANRO manufacturing and finishing our own fabrics. Thanks to our state-of-the-art production processes, the fabrics we create are unique. Seamless and hem-less finishes, soft mercerization, and the very closest stitching requirements are just a few of our innovations, all of which we are constantly working on developing further. All HANRO ranges are certified in accordance with Öko-Tex standard 100 and bear the “Textiles Vertrauen” seal of approval.

Short transportation routes

Short transportation routes

Thanks to textile production in Vorarlberg/Austria as well as the sewing factory inPortugal and the warehouse in Hungary, transportation routes are short with a smallcarbon footprint. In 1989, HANRO restructured transportation – switching from truckto train. This has already saved 4 million km of truck road driving.

Waste reduction

Employees are trained with regard to greater environmental and cost awareness as wellas better waste separation. Whenever possible, waste is separated to reduce the amountof residual waste. All fabric waste is recycled. The purchasing department influences allsuppliers regarding packaging reductions.
