SUSTAINABLE COLLECTION FOR MEN BY HANRO

One material of our sustainable men's styles is organic cotton. This is characterized by the fact that no fertilizers or pesticides are used in its cultivation. In addition, organic cotton uses only half the amount of water compared to conventional cotton.

One of the sustainable materials is TENCEL™ Lyocell. The material is almost as silky as silk, is sustainable, 100% biodegradable, provides an optimal skin feel and is moisture regulating.

Lyocell is considered to be particularly sustainable because attention is paid to sustainability not only in the production process itself, but also throughout the entire production chain. The cellulose for TENCEL™ is mainly produced from eucalyptus wood, but also from acacia, maple, birch, poplar, beech, black alder and spruce. All wood used comes from certified (mainly PEFC and FSC) and sustainably managed natural forests and plantations or from (small) forest owners who also comply with the required guidelines.

During the processing of the cellulose (i.e. the shavings), 97% of the solvents required for production can be recovered. In addition, very little water is required for production. This makes Lyocell a more environmentally friendly fiber than viscose (which is also based on cellulose), also because it is biodegradable.
