Inspired by the beach fashion of the 1930s, this collection is a tribute to Madeleine Handschin, the first HANRO designer and granddaughter of the company founder, who shaped the brand with her unique style and flair for new trends.
At the beginning of the 1930s, Madeleine travelled to the French Riviera for research purposes. There, the women on the beach, on the promenade, in restaurants and on the tennis court wore a light summer uniform consisting of wide sailor trousers and broad striped jersey jumpers. Inspired by this fashion, Madeleine Handschin developed the so-called beach pyjamas. This resulted in the highlight of the 'Madeleine' anniversary collection, a jumpsuit, also known as a beach suit at the time, with a matching belt.
